The story of Hummel began in Hamburg in 1923 where the Messmer family started applying the first rubber outsoles to a sports footwear collection. Despite suffering heavy bombing during WWII the company grew steadily and in the early ‘60s signed it’s first sponsorship contracts. By 1969 the company had introduced its first sportswear collection featuring the iconic chevrons and bumblebee logo which still give the brand recognition today.
